Frequently Asked Questions

My insurance has you listed as a provider though you don’t take it in your private practice. Why is that?

In addition to private practice, I work in community and public psychiatric clinics that are able to bill an individual’s insurance or in some cases, provide care that is free to people. The fractured overall healthcare system and lack of value placed on mental health services such as psychotherapy from insurance plans make it difficult to take insurance in a part-time private practice model. Additionally, insurance companies can often have providers listed that are not up-to-date.

What if I’m on the fence about whether to start medications? Does it still make sense to come in for a consultation?

The decision to start medications can be a complex and deeply personal choice. My role is to help provide clarity. I do so by helping you to navigate your ambivalence while providing you with information regarding evidence-based treatment options. Ultimately my goal is to empower you to make the decision that feels right for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

For initial evaluations and follow-up appointments, please notify me of cancellation 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment to both facilitate my being able to offer the time to someone else and to avoid full charge for the missed session.
